  • a poem on parenthood

    I watch you, determined face

I notice the refusal to accept

    what I surrendered to

    so long ago

    Presence should be a

    lightning bolt

    striking

    me back

    into the moment

    Stop looking away

    Try to meet your gaze

Pick up the thread of the game

sweet secret you invite me into.

    I watch you though

    Even when the rest is

    flickering.

    I always see you.
